Road to SuperCupNI – a special series of short reads for our 40th anniversary tournament.

We’re inviting teams to tell us a little about themselves, how preparations are going and what coming to Northern Ireland to participate in SuperCupNI means to them.

Next up in the series – Ichifuna from Japan.

Ichifuna from Japan are back for SuperCupNI 2023

Coach Seiya Sato said:

“First of all, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful and historic tournament.

We have been preparing for this tournament by strengthening our U16 Rookie League in Japan.

We are looking forward to playing against the great participating teams, and we will challenge ourselves humbly and positively as “Ichifuna”.

Ichifuna player Rowaa Mori said:

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful tournament.

I would also like to thank everyone who has always supported us.

In this tournament, we will show the results of our daily training and improve both as a team and as individuals in order to win this tournament.

For my teammates who were not able to participate in this tournament, I will do my best to play each game with pride.”

And Ichifuna player Kaina Takahashi added:

“The slogan of Ichifuna, “conquer skill with teamwork”, and we will cherish this opportunity to play with only first grade at high school.

We will play as a team to achieve results in this tournament by being aware of duel, transition, hard work, and keep our cheer up the team.”
