It was a close affair at a wet and windy Clough as The Orange County Blues (OC Blues), defeated Scottish opposition Motherwell two to one, in a tightly contested match.

Motherwell looked like the better team throughout the first half, enjoying large spells of possession, and their dominance paid off when centre back Robbie Killpatrick headed a corner past the OC keeper. However, closer inspection revealed the ball had deflected off Laclin McBride of OC, thereby meaning it was given as an own goal. Motherwell continued to dominate, however a rare defensive error allowed OC player “Caleb” rush through and cooly dink the ball over the onrushing PJ Morrison.

Through the second half of play, Motherwell continued to dominate, showing great possession play and pressing off the ball, although they struggled to find the finishing touch they desperately needed. Then, when it seemed like Motherwell would dominate the entire half, OC Captain Andrew Paoli drove into space before unleashing a wonderstrike which found the back of the net. Motherwell’s dominance counted for nothing, and as they continued to press for an equaliser. Angel Farias, a first half substitute clipped with crossbar with an attempt. Motherwell tried in vain to find an equaliser, as OC took the victory, despite periods of dominance by the Steelmen.
