SuperCupNI Premier Section Champions – Right to Dream

Jul 28, 2017 | Premier Section

Ghanaian side Right to Dream claimed the SuperCupNI Premier Section trophy after they beat Mexican opponents Club America 2-1.

Right to Dream created the first chance of the game as Emmanuel Duko hit a strike across goal that was well saved by Yael Duran before the ball feel for Mohamed Diomanade his effort was well blocked by Carlos Chavez.

The side from Ghana thought they had broken the deadlock on six minutes as Mohammed Kudus got on the end of a King Baidoo cross before he flicked his header wide of the target. The Mexican side were a whisker away from taking the lead as Santiago Rios thumped a thirty-yard effort just wide of the target from range.

Kudas then was denied on 18 minutes by a superb save from Yael Duran as he got down low to keep out a stinging drive from the edge of the area. Club America were playing some fantastic football and they could have taken the lead when Clemente Osuana fired just wide of the target after he was played in by Diego Robledo on 21 minutes.

In a close first half it was the Ghanian side that nearly went into the break ahead as Diomande saw his stunning effort well saved by the impressive Yael Duran in goal for the Mexicans.

Club America started the second half slightly on top and created the first opening when Diego Robledo linked up well with Oswaldo Rios before he saw his effort well blocked by Marcus Gudmann.

The next opening fell to the South American side as Luis Tinajero was played through before he lashed his effort just wide of the target if it was on target the ball was surely beating Right To Dream keeper Stephen Sarkodie.

However the Mexican side went ahead on 55 minutes as Santiago Rios whipped a freekick into the top corner of the net from just the corner of the area leaving the keeper stunned. That goal kicked the African side into life and they could have been immediately level as Kadus skipped the challenges before he saw his effort well saved by Yael Duran once again.

Fraser Robertson’s side levelled the tie on 59 minutes as Kadus got on the end of a cross to powerfully head the ball into the net leaving Yael Duran stranded.

Kelvin Owusu-Boateng then thought he had turned the game on its end as he got on the end of a corner but he flicked his header over the crossbar.

The Ghanaian side did take the lead on 66 minutes when that man again man of the match Kudas danced around the Club America defence before he lashed the ball into the top corner leaving Duran with no chance of keeping the ball out of the net. This was to be the final score as Right to Dream claimed the trophy adding to their junior success from last year.
