Club America v CSKA Moscow – Premier Section Match Report

Jul 30, 2015 | Premier Section

CSKA had the first chance inside one minute as Chavlov Feder crossed low for Ryabokon Pavel – he hit his shot first time but wide of the goal .

Thirteen minutes had passed when Club America had the second chance of the match as silky footwork by Jerey saw him get into the box, but his shot was well saved by the legs of Ovchinnikov Pavel.

CSKA Moscow were reduced to ten men on eighteen minutes as Aivaziants Vladimir was shown a straight red card for a two footed tackle, leaving the Russians with a mountain to climb.

However it was CSKA who were inches away from taking the lead when Club America keeper Rafael pulled off a magnificent reaction save to deny Chavlov Feder .

It was the Mexican side who where a whisker away from talking the lead next as a dangerous whipped in free-kick from Alejandro the ball nearly found Ricardo at the back post.

Halftime
 Cska Moscow 0-0 Club America

The second half started very slowly, both sides starting cautiously with CSKA packing the middle of the park not allowing the Mexicans to play .

As the clock ticked down the game looked to be going ever closer to penalties .  Pavel in the CSKA goal came to his side’s rescue as the ball bobbled about the box before falling to the head of Enrique but his header was well punched away by the big keeper .

As the game came to a close CSKA started to tire, and Pavel came to the Russian’s rescue once again as Cska failed to clear their lines, the ball falling delightfully for Ricardo who hammered a shot goalwards only for the keeper to make a good reaction save.

As the game edged ever closer to penalties CSKA made a change of goalkeepers, a touch of Van Gaal from last year’s World Cup perhaps? It wasn’t to be as Club America scored all five of their penalties, with Alexsander’s missed effort the costly one for the Russian side.
