Budget Energy SuperCupNI Backs Coleraine FC’s Vision for North West Regional Stadium

LAST SUMMER – Thousands of spectators lined the streets of Coleraine and packed the stands and terraces of the Coleraine Showgrounds to give a rousing welcome to over 1,200 elite young footballers from around the world as Northern Ireland and Leeds United legend Stuart Dallas kicked-off an action-packed week of youth football with the official launch of the 2024 SuperCupNI.

Budget Energy SuperCupNI is delighted to support Coleraine Football Club’s application to the Northern Ireland Football Fund as they seek to transform The Showgrounds into the North West Regional Stadium—the future home of Super Cup NI.

This major investment will not only enhance football infrastructure in the region but will also solidify Super Cup NI’s status as a world-leading youth football tournament. The redevelopment of The Showgrounds will provide top-class facilities for young players from across the globe, ensuring Northern Ireland remains a key destination for elite youth football.

Victor Leonard, Chairman of Budget Energy SuperCupNI, welcomed the project, saying:
“The Showgrounds has been central to our tournament’s success for decades. This investment will help establish Coleraine as the heart of the competition, bringing thousands of visitors back to the town each summer and significantly boosting the local economy. Budget Energy SuperCupNI continues to grow as a global event, and this project is essential to securing our long-term future on the world stage.”

The proposed development will transform the Showgrounds into a modern, multi-purpose venue, allowing Super Cup NI to attract even greater international interest, expand its reach, and provide young footballers with a first-class experience.
Coleraine FC’s application represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a lasting legacy for football in Northern Ireland, and Budget Energy SuperCupNI is proud to support this ambitious vision.
