Report by Ryan Hall
Day two in group D of the Minor section saw Glentoran facing USSSA. Both teams were looking to bounce back from a loss in their opening match.
The game started brightly, with Glentoran having the first major chance of the game. A long ball played by Reigan Long was flicked on by Alfie Davidson, forcing a good save out of the USSSA ‘keeper.
Glentoran looked the most threatening team in the opening stages, dominating possession, with USSSA struggling to get out.
It was Glentoran who took the lead through Alfie Davidson. It started with a great long ball from Jack McAllister, the Glentoran Goalkeeper. His pass was sprayed out to Kai McCullough, who was able to whip his cross in. The ‘keeper could only palm the ball out to Alfie Davidson, who finished well to give Glentoran the lead.
After the break, little changed as Glentoran continued to dominate.
Glentoran doubled their lead when an excellent long ball from Kai McCullough, reached Junior Camara. He was able to outmuscle the defender, and finish with a powerful strike into the back of the net.
Overall, it was a convincing display from Glentoran. They dominated possession and created more chances than USSSA, who struggled to break through the Glentoran defence.
Glentoran now move on to play Celtic, while USSSA will play Loughgall.
