Northern Ireland’s SuperCupNI international youth football tournament is turning a new page in its history.

 

The organisers of the world-renowned event has agreed a three-year media partnership with the Daily Mirror and its Belfast Live website.

 

Chris Sherrard, editor of Belfast Live, said: “We are delighted to be on board with SuperCupNI over the next three years. It is one of the main events on the Northern Ireland calendar, something we all grew up with. To be involved with the event is very exciting.

 

“Belfast Live launched n 2015 and since then I have always wanted to be involved with SuperCupNI Our readers love the whole spirit of the event. When the opportunity arose to work with the organisers we jumped at it.”

 

The chairman of SuperCupNI, Victor Leonard, said: “We are very excited to be linking up with the Daily Mirror and Belfast Live. It is something new for the tournament.

 

“We have been evolving over the years and this is another natural step for the tournament.

 

“Belfast Live is hugely popular and this is a partnership that will further enhance the profile of our event in Belfast and across the Province.”

 

The tournament, which features a new mini section this year for players under the age of 13 in addition to its Junior and Premier competitions, has established itself across a global stage over the years since it first kicked off in 1983.

 

Public relations officer Jim Sandford added: “We have been impressed with Belfast Live since they launched so we are delighted to be linking up with them and a newspaper of the Daily Mirror’s calibre which has a proud reputation for first class football coverage.

 

“We believe the partnership will extend SuperCupNI to ab even bigger audience plus we loved the ideas that Belfast Live brought to the table.

 

“This is an exciting time for everyone involved.”
