Rangers started the game brighter, getting the ball down and playing some good attacking football. The Strikers defence were under immense early pressure.  However, the Scottish side could not make the breakthrough despite their early pressure.

Strikers started to get a foothold on the game and began putting together some worthy attacks of their own but failed to trouble Gers’ keeper Brian Kinnear. Then Rangers won a free kick in a dangerous area, the ball floated into Owen McGinty who almost opened the scoring but for a superb block from the Strikers defence. Another chanse saw McKechnie just put his volley over the bar.

Rangers were certainly growing into the game and they started to knock the ball about in a very confident manner. Rangers got their reward when after some neat work between McGinty and Awokoya Medube, McGinty was able to cross for Nathan Patterson to volley home. The goal was no more than Rangers deserved.

A volley from distance from Pedro Reyes was Strikers only notable effort on goal with the ball just dipping over the bar. Jacob Silva when down in the Rangers box but the referee thought he had made a meal of it.

As the second half started, Again Rangers looked the brighter of the 2 sides with McGinty getting on the ball and using his pace and trickery to penetrate the American defence. The game started to get much more physical as Strikers pressed for an equaliser but the Rangers defence stood strong with centre back Daniel Finlayson excelling at the back.

Although Rangers seemed comfortable there was still every chance Strikers could find the equaliser they so craved but it was almost game over. Some excellent running from Nathan Patterson saw him storm into the box and square for Rodden but his shot was straight at Strikers stopper Oliver Juarez. Both teams started to tire as the game went on and this effected the quality as no side could trouble either keeper. In a fairly tight game, Rangers held on for a deserved win and claimed 3rd place in the Globe.
